When I think about the best time to reflect and set goals, the end of the year comes to mind. In fact, I’ve completed the Year Compass for the last 5 years, and I shamelessly rave about it to countless friends who end up finding it just as helpful. If you’re not familiar, the Year Compass is a structured journaling exercise to reflect on your past year and set goals for the coming year.
But as with any new year’s goals and resolutions, the tradeoff is that it’s inevitable to hit that mid-year trough when you literally could not be further from this goal-setting mindset. Over the years, I’ve grown increasingly frustrated by forgetting all of my goals in the messiness of week-to-week life. So this year, I decided to do something about it!
I created my own reflection activity meant, not for the end of the year, but for the messy middle. Welcome, to the Mid-Year Checkpoint. You can download it below.
If you find it helpful, all I ask is that you share it with a trusted friend.
Thank you, and happy trails!
Disclaimer: No part of my personal essays are written using AI of any kind. Odds are that this idea came to me mid-shower, with a shout to Siri to “remind me about X”. I probably stayed up past my bedtime, rambling away at my keyboard in a state of semi-wakefulness. And there’s a good chance that you can find some grammatical errors in here. (Like in the previous sentence 🙂)
